Terms Infusion update (06.10.2006)
ModsWith the core upgrade to v6.01.6 (maincore.php) it was necessary to update the included maincore.php of the Terms Infusion for those using the [ glos ] tags. I also cleaned the code of the files so it should comply with W3C standards.

Terms Infusion updated
ModsWith the core upgrade to v6.01.5 (maincore.php) it was necessary to update the included maincore.php of the Terms Infusion for those using the [ glos ] tags. I also fixed bug in the links to pages 2 and further when more than one page of items with a specific starting letter are present. The manner to curcimvent the problem by asking for 50 items to be displayed unfortunately did not work but with the new version you do not need it. The only updated file (other than maincore.php) is ..infusions/terms/terms.php.

FYI: I have also started cleaning the code so it will comply with W3C standards.

New version Terms Infusion
ModsThe new version of the Terms Infusion is now available. Something different from all other Infusions I know, is the presence of three different infusion scripts for different modes of the infusion. Basically, when one infusion script is chosen, it will be possible to change to a different mode (default, Dictionary or Glossary) afterwards but some of the infusion information in the database will have to be edited by had. All other relevant information will be changed once the setting is changed (locale, display, options in settings). For this, three different locale sets are present, one for each mode.

UPDATE 25 July 2006: The link in the Terms Submissions panel has been updated to show a complete list of all submitted terms rather than the terms in the category 'Submitted'. Also a slight improvement to the readme to indicate where the same list can be obtained from the regular terms list. Download it HERE (Members Only).

Dictionary Infusion becomes Terms Infusion
ModsThe next version on the Dictionary Infusion has become the Terms Infusion. Folders and files have been renamed and database tables and field names in those tables have been updated to reflect the change. This requires a more complicated update procedure than before but it is all documented in the readme.
Still scheduled are the modification of maincore.php that will allow the use of [glos] [/glos] tags. Between those tags, a term (single word, not a phrase yet, I am afraid) will become a link to the page with the description of the term. As the description field already allows the use of BBcode it is well suited to give nicely formatted descriptions. Even illustrations are possible (though it needs some work for consistent page layout). The good news is: The basics are already working on my localhost site and a 'demo' is gven in the relevant forum thread.

The Dictionary will not be lost alltogether. I will start modifying the files so that it should be possible choose upon infusion whether it will be a Glossary or a Dictionary (offering two different files, one of which should be renamed to infusion.php). Using an admin setting it should also be possible to switch using different features for the Dictionary or Glossary and at the same time switch locale files.

Dictionary -> Glossary
ModsMy plans with the Dictionary Infusion are gradually developing more and more. It is now clear to me that it will evolve in the Glossary Builder I wanted to have. At one stage I thought of modding an existing FAQ system into an Glossary Builder infusion but I think this will take me less time to get hwat I want.

In the future the infusion will also include a modification of maincore.php that will allow the use of [glos] [/glos] tags. Between those tags, a term (single word, not a phrase yet, I am afraid) will become a link to the page with the description of the term. As the description field already allows the use of BBcode it is well suited to give nicely formatted descriptions. Even illustrations are possible (though it needs some work for consistent page layout). The good news is: The basics are already working on my localhost site.

Will the Dictionary be lost alltogether? No, I will see if I can manage to disable and enable different features to use it as Dictionary or Gossary in one setting and at the same time switch locale files. Yes, we're talking about revolution here. Keep checking.

Extended Profile v2.02
ModsAfter a recent security update for PHP-Fusion it was necessary also to update two files in the Extended Profile Infusion. Though the Infusion is still listed as Beta on http://www.phpfusion-mods.com, no issues have been reported and I give it here as Release Candidate. See the forum for more.

First Infusion Pre-Release
ModsAs official start of the site there is a pre-release of a Dictionary Infusion. See the Forum for more details and a download link.
The earlier problem I noticed was a result of me creating the infusion by modding an existing one. The existing one was not yet up to date for MySQL4 and consequently, some of required information in the file infusion.php was missing. As a result, no correct infusion under MySQL4 was possible. That issue has now been corrected.
